Wind Tunnel Test
Development of the AirFlow Deflector has gone through many stages of design and prototypes and is now in its fifth generation.
Wind tunnel tests were performed at The National Research Centre in Ottawa. Highway field-testing was conducted in North Carolina, following protocols of the Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Association. These trials were supervised by Volvo Trucks of North America.
The tests formally confirm that the third AirFlow Deflector prototype increased the co-efficient of airflow around trailers by more than 6.8%. This factor effectively reduces turbulence and drag which reduces both fuel costs and C02 emissions. The latest Airflow Deflector has even better airflow characteristics! |
